Kajabi setup

Connect your Kajabi site so buyers from Plandalf checkouts get what they paid for in Kajabi. When someone pays, a sequence can grant them a Kajabi offer, which unlocks the courses and products in it. When they’re refunded, another sequence can revoke it. You can also find or create buyers as Kajabi contacts and apply your tags, so you can segment them in Kajabi.

Note. Tags and triggers The Kajabi steps apply tags that already exist in Kajabi. They can’t create new tags. There are no Kajabi triggers yet.

Before you start

  • A Kajabi plan that includes the Public API. The current Pro plan includes it. Older Pro plans need Kajabi’s Public API add-on.
  • Owner or Subowner access to the Kajabi account, to create API credentials.
  • The offers you want to grant, and any tags you want to apply, already created in Kajabi.

Get your Kajabi credentials

Plandalf needs three values from Kajabi: a Client ID, a Client Secret and your Site ID.

  1. Open the Public API settings

In your Kajabi dashboard, go to Settings and open Public API, under Account Settings.

  2. Create a key

Click Create User API Key. Name it “Plandalf”, choose the account user, and give it permission to read and edit contacts and offers, and to read tags. Click Create.

  3. Copy the client ID and secret

Copy the client ID and client secret Kajabi shows for the key. These are not the API key and secret Kajabi gives you for Zapier.

  4. Find your Site ID

While signed in to Kajabi, look at the address bar. Your Site ID is the number after /admin/sites/.

Connect Kajabi to Plandalf

  1. Find Kajabi in the Marketplace

In Plandalf, open Automation in the sidebar and choose the Marketplace tab. Find Kajabi under Available now and click Connect.

  2. Enter the three values

In the Connect Kajabi window, keep or change the Integration name. Paste the Client ID, Client Secret and Site ID, then click Connect.

  3. Check the result

Plandalf signs in to Kajabi straight away. When you see Kajabi connected, choose Build an automation or Not now.

Steps you can add

Grant Offer

Gives someone access to a Kajabi offer, creating the contact first if Kajabi doesn’t have them. Kajabi creates the customer, unlocks every product in the offer and runs its own automations for it. If they already have the offer, Kajabi doesn’t grant it twice.

  • Email Address (required), usually {{trigger.customer_email}}.
  • Offer (required): pick an offer from your Kajabi site. They get access to every product in it.
  • Name: used if the contact is new to Kajabi, usually {{trigger.customer_name}}.
  • Send Kajabi welcome email: on by default. New customers get Kajabi’s welcome email with their login link. Turn it off if you send your own.

Revoke Offer

Takes away someone’s access to a Kajabi offer, for example when they’re refunded. Kajabi ends their access to the offer’s products. If Kajabi has no contact with that email, or they don’t have the offer, the step is skipped rather than failed.

  • Email Address (required), usually {{trigger.customer_email}}.
  • Offer (required): the offer to take away.

Find or Create Contact

Finds a Kajabi contact by email, or creates one.

  • Email Address (required), usually {{trigger.customer_email}}.
  • Contact Name: the full name, used when the contact is created. Usually {{trigger.customer_name}}.

The step returns the contact’s contact_id and whether it was found or created. New contacts are created as subscribed to your Kajabi emails, so only send buyers who agreed to hear from you.

Create Contact Tag

Applies one or more existing tags to a contact. Despite the name, it doesn’t create tags in Kajabi.

  • Tags (required): pick tags from your Kajabi account, or type the name of an existing tag. A typed name with spaces must be in double quotes, for example "VIP Customer".
  • Contact ID (required): pick contact_id from the Find or Create Contact step in the variable menu.

Find or Create Contact with Tags

Finds or creates a contact by email and applies tags in one step. It doesn’t give access to an offer; use Grant Offer for that.

  • Email Address (required), usually {{trigger.customer_email}}.
  • First Name and Last Name: used if the contact is new to Kajabi.
  • Tags: existing Kajabi tags to apply. Pick them, or type a name; wrap names with spaces in double quotes. Leave it empty to only find or create the contact.

Like Find or Create Contact, it creates new contacts as subscribed to your Kajabi emails.

Example: give buyers their Kajabi offer

  1. Create the sequence

In Plandalf, go to Automation → My Sequences and create a sequence called “Buyers to Kajabi”.

  2. Set the trigger

Choose Plandalf and Checkout Completed. Under Offer, pick your checkout. On 3. Test, pick a recent checkout as the sample record.

  3. Grant the offer

Click Add a step, choose Kajabi and Grant Offer, and pick your Kajabi account. Set Email Address to {{trigger.customer_email}}, pick the Kajabi Offer the checkout sells, and set Name to {{trigger.customer_name}}. Leave Send Kajabi welcome email on unless you send your own login email.

  4. Test and turn it on

Testing grants the offer to a real contact and can send Kajabi’s welcome email, so use your own email. Then turn the sequence On.

To tag buyers as well, add Find or Create Contact with Tags after the Grant Offer step. To try the sequence with a test card, switch on Run on test purchases in its Settings first. Test purchases skip automations by default.

Revoke the offer on refund

Take the offer back from refunded buyers with the Remove access on refund template.

  1. Add the template

Go to Automation → Templates, find Remove access on refund and click + Add. Pick the same checkout as your purchase sequence. Plandalf creates the sequence and opens it.

  2. Pick the offer

Open the Revoke Offer step. Email Address is already set to {{trigger.customer_email}}. Pick the same Kajabi Offer your Grant Offer step gives.

  3. Turn it on

The trigger is Invoice Refunded with Full refunds only on, so a partial refund leaves access alone. Turn the sequence On.

The template adds a removal step for every connected app that has one, so you may see steps for other apps in the same sequence. Set them up too, or delete the ones you don’t need.
