Hosted link and a native Teachable app

Sell Teachable courses through a Plandalf checkout

Buyers pay in Plandalf. A native Teachable step creates the student if they are new and enrols them in the course they bought.

How it connects

Teachable teaches. Plandalf sells.

Lessons stay in Teachable. A Plandalf Offer takes payment and a step enrols the student.

How Plandalf reaches Teachable

Hosted link and a native Teachable app

Your course page links to a Plandalf hosted checkout. The Teachable step runs when the checkout completes.

Lessons, progress and the student experience stay in Teachable. A Plandalf Offer takes the money in front of it, with bumps, upsells and deadlines, and a sequence step puts the paying student into the right course.

Why swap Teachable's checkout for Plandalf

Teachable owns

  • Course hosting and delivery
  • Student progress and certificates
  • Coaching and downloads

Plandalf owns

  • Checkout, bumps and upsells
  • Deadline offers that expire
  • Enrol and remove steps per course

Same on every platform: payment goes through your own Stripe or PayPal account, Plandalf keeps the invoice, and every Offer has a hosted link and a test mode link.

What syncs

What Plandalf does inside Teachable

Three Teachable steps, all keyed on the student’s email address, so there is no id to pass between them.

Why add Plandalf

What Teachable’s own checkout can’t do

From Teachable’s help centre. Teachable stays the home of the course.

  • You can only tweak a few checkout blocks.

Up to 2 testimonials, 5 bullet points, a guarantee badge and the button text.

  • Order bumps are capped.

Up to 3 per product, and they only show together if they match the same pricing plan.

  • Starter takes 7.5% of every sale.

That's on top of payment processing, and it isn't returned when you refund.

Set it up

Connect Teachable in four steps

Under ten minutes once your school is on a plan with the API.

  1. 1

    Create the API key

In your Teachable school admin open Settings, then the API tab. Click Create API Key, name it Plandalf and copy the key.

  2. 2

    Connect it in Plandalf

Open Automation, then the Marketplace tab. Find Teachable under Available now, click Connect and paste the key into API Key. Plandalf checks it straight away.

  3. 3

    Build the sequence

Trigger on Checkout Completed for the Offer that sells the course. Add Teachable, Enrol Student in Course, with Email Address set to {{trigger.customer_email}}, your Course and Name set to {{trigger.customer_name}}. For several courses add one step per course.

  4. 4

Send the course page buyers to Plandalf

Link your Teachable sales button to the Offer’s hosted checkout link, then buy once with your own email. A test enrols a real student.

Gotchas

Before you move a course to Plandalf

  • API students count toward Teachable fees

Teachable counts students added through its API. For schools created on or after 3 September 2026 the first 100 are free and each further student is $0.50 a month. Older schools are on the legacy schedule. Check Teachable’s usage fees page.

  • Starter’s sales fee is unconfirmed

Teachable’s Starter plan takes 7.5% of sales made through its checkout. We have not confirmed whether that applies to sales made in a Plandalf checkout, so ask Teachable before moving a Starter school.

  • Code snippets have their limits

Head Code Snippets need the Builder plan or above and do not run on login or checkout pages hosted on sso.teachable.com. New schools also do not get Custom HTML blocks until Teachable Support turns them on. The hosted link avoids both.

  • Cancelled subscriptions need a manual trigger

Plandalf has no subscription-cancelled trigger yet. Run Remove Student from Course from a sequence you start yourself, such as one with a Webhook Trigger, or remove the student in Teachable.

  • Test purchases skip automations

Turn on Run on test purchases in the sequence’s Settings to try it with a test card.

Integrations

Keep your site. Upgrade how it sells.

Plus a fully documented REST API and webhook layer for whatever’s not in the list.

Questions

Teachable checkout questions

The short answers. The docs have the long ones.

Can I use a different checkout with Teachable?

Yes. Point your Teachable sales page at a Plandalf hosted checkout and add the Enrol Student in Course step. Teachable keeps the course, the student record and their progress.

How do I add an upsell or order bump to a Teachable course?

Add them to the Plandalf Offer, where they are not capped at three per product. Teachable enrols the buyer for the course the sequence names, so test a purchase with and without each add-on.

Does Plandalf work with Teachable and Stripe?

Plandalf takes payment through your own Stripe or PayPal account, connected under Settings, Payments and Tax Integrations. Teachable is told about the sale by the enrol step, not by the payment.

Can I run some courses on Teachable’s checkout and some on Plandalf?

Yes. Plandalf only enrols buyers who pay in a Plandalf checkout. Teachable’s own checkout keeps working for everything else.

What happens when a student is refunded?

Add the Remove access on refund template, pick the course in its Remove Student from Course step and turn it on. It fires on full refunds only.

Which Teachable plan do I need?

Growth or higher. Teachable’s API is not available on lower plans.
